CSP-R Culminates Buwan ni Maria: Witnessing the Assembly of Hallowed Spectacles in Santacruzan
May 31, 2023 – Petrinians culminate Buwan ni Maria on the feast of the Visitation. The first part of the celebration took off at 7: 30 AM. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass was said in commemoration of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s visit to her cousin, Elizabeth. During homily, presiding priest, Rev. Fr. Vicente Ramon, Jr., OAR, recounted the story that explains the tradition behind Santacruzan. He catechized about Saint Helena’s quest of finding the true cross of Christ. With the theme: “Walking through Faith in Communion, Participation and Mission with Mary,” this year’s Buwan ni Maria seeks to magnify Mary’s relevant role in our journey of synodality.
Later on at 2: 45 PM, Petrinians gathered in the school gymnasium for the second part of the celebration. To set the tone for the afternoon’s highlight, the Recollect Augustinian Youth performed the Marian animation song “High Five Para Kay Maria.” Afterwards, the names of winners in the different Marian contests were announced. Special recognition and certificates were given to them.
What came next was CSP-R’s own rendition of the Santacruzan. Observing a prayerful silence, Petrinians witnessed the solemn procession of significant representations of the Marian virtues and titles. Leading the parade were the altar servers followed by the salutation “AVE MARIA” held by selected junior high students. Kindergarten pupils who were dressed as angels also joined the assembly of hallowed spectacles, together with the bearers of Marian virtues, three major Marian titles, Little Constantine, Reyna Elena and the carosa of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
As soon as the procession was finished, Rev. Fr. Ramon B. Bitancor III, OAR began to officiate the liturgy. He led the incensing of the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary and invited the congregation to prayer. The angels, bearers of Marian virtues, holders of Marian titles, Reyna Elena and Little Constantine were called to come forward and offer their flowers at the foot of the Marian icon on center stage. Capping the liturgy was a Marian serenade rendered by Coro de San Pedro. The final blessing was said and Buwan ni Maria was concluded by the congregation’s triumphant cheer of VIVA LA VIRGEN.
