CSP-R Begins Lenten Devotion in Via Crucis
Petrinians embarked on a spiritual pilgrimage every Friday of Lent. Two years since the pandemic, majority of the grade 7, 8 and 9 students are apparently unfamiliar and inexperienced with some Lenten devotions. Considering this, the Campus Ministry Office took the initiative to make up for the lost opportunity and re-introduce the Via Crucis. Students took full participation as the assigned Lectors, Commentators, Altar Servers, and Choir. Also known as Stations of the Cross, the Via Crucis is a Lenten tradition of the Church that commemorates 14 key events of Jesus’ journey towards his passion and death. The Via Crucis was the needed spiritual break for Petrinians to reconnect with God after a week of academic loads.
Every Friday at 3:30 PM, Petrinians gather in the school covered court for the Via Crucis. To set the tone, Rev. Fr. Ramon B. Bitancor III, OAR gave a brief Catechism about the Lenten spirituality and the different ways Catholics express their faith within the season. Added to this were instructions and guidelines in order to preserve solemnity although out the devotion. In silence, Petrinians were encouraged to pray and reflect upon the selfless and sacrificial love of Jesus Christ to humanity. The Via Crucis has a long history in the Catholic tradition and CSP-R seeks to keep the legacy of this devotion every Lenten season.
